Overnight chauffeur-driven private car excursion with meals
This excursion takes you through quiet villages, ancient temples and beautiful scenery, where the borders of Thailand, Burma and Laos meet.
Depart from your hotel in Chiang Mai to visit the orchid farms before continuing to Mae Saa Elephant Camp and also take an elephant trek through the forest. After lunch, your journey takes you to Wiang Pa Pao, located in a picturesque green valley, Mae Ka Chan hot spring and Rong Khun, to see its unusual temple. Pause at Chiang Saen, the 850-year old city, before arriving at Chiang Rai, once notorious as the centre of the opium trade. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, take a long-tailed speedboat trip on the Mekong River before visiting the Opium Museum. Later visit the Akha and Yao hill tribes and on to the Doi Tung Development Project, witness how the perseverance of the people has revived their once deteriorated forests. We also stop at the Cottage Industry Centre. After lunch we return to Chiang Mai.
